The Yakima County Assessors Office main goal is to accurately and efficiently
appraise properties within the county boundaries. We strive to make sure that
taxpayers get the most accurate appraisal possible which leads to the
most fair and balanced share of property tax for their property.
Our office is tasked with assessing just over 100,000 parcels annualy one-sixth of
which we must physically inspect each year. The Task of doing that is handled by our appraisal departments:
In addition to Real Property our Personal Property department handles the valuation
and assessment of Personal Property (Business Equipment) for the entire county.
After the Appraisal of a property is completed the value is transfered to our
Assessment system (Ascend by Manatron). Inside that system exemptions can
impact a property to lower it's taxability or an annexation can occur to
modify the district membership, or a property can be segregated or
merged with other properties to create new parcels many other things
can occur in this system as well.
Once tax rates are set in our office taxes are calculated at a parcel level to be
collected by the Yakima County Treasurer.
All of these things are handled by the Assessment portion of our office which is
headed by the
Administrative section and contains the
Customer Service,
Parcel Mapping,
Personal Property and
Audit/Control Departments.
